Minimally Invasive Heart Surgery

Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center is one of the first hospitals in Palm Beach County offering minimally invasive heart surgery as a treatment option for patients suffering from heart valve disease. Unlike traditional open heart surgery where the breast bone needs to be surgically separated, minimally invasive valve surgery is performed through a small incision between the ribs.

Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center Recognized with Six Five-Star Achievements from Healthgrades

Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center announced today it has achieved numerous five-star ratings for specialty care, according to new research released by Healthgrades, a leading resource consumers use to find a hospital or doctor. Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center’s Five-Star ratings include Heart Failure, Treatment of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, Treatment of Pneumonia, Carotid Procedures, Treatment of GI Bleed, and Treatment of Respiratory Failure. In addition, Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center has been recognized in the Top 10% in the Nation for Overall Pulmonary Services, including the only hospital in northern Palm Beach County to earn this recognition. These achievements reflect Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center’s commitment to consistently delivering the best care possible and places the organization in the upper echelon of hospitals for specialty care nationwide.

"The recognition from Healthgrades with multiple awards in 2024 is a testament to our unwavering dedication to providing exceptional healthcare at Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center,” said Libby Flippo, Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center’s interim CEO.  “We are incredibly proud of our passionate and skilled team who consistently go the extra mile for our patients. These achievements inspire us to continue raising the bar for high-quality care."

Healthgrades evaluates hospitals solely on clinical outcomes: risk-adjusted mortality and complications. By focusing on what matters most–patient outcomes–Healthgrades ratings provide critical feedback for both patients and hospitals. By offering easy access to objective performance measures, Healthgrades gives consumers the information they need to find a hospital that excels in providing the care they need. And, by shining a light on strengths and weaknesses, Healthgrades ratings help direct hospitals to opportunities for clinical improvement.  The 2024 hospital assessment evaluated patient mortality and complication rates for 35 common conditions and procedures at approximately 4,500 hospitals nationwide to identify the top performers.

The 2024 Healthgrades analysis revealed that the variation in performance between five-star and one-star hospitals continues to widen, making it increasingly important to seek care at top-rated programs. From 2020 through 2022, if all hospitals as a group performed similarly to five-star hospitals, on average, 215,667 lives could potentially have been saved, and 149,521 patients could have avoided potential complications.*

“Healthgrades congratulates Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center for being a national leader and demonstrating a deep commitment to providing high quality care to all patients,” said Brad Bowman, MD, Chief Medical Officer and Head of Data Science at Healthgrades. “As health systems nationwide endeavor to elevate their quality of care, these elite facilities provide a roadmap for success. We commend [Hospital Name] for their dedication to excellence in patient care.”
