Minimally Invasive Heart Surgery

Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center is one of the first hospitals in Palm Beach County offering minimally invasive heart surgery as a treatment option for patients suffering from heart valve disease. Unlike traditional open heart surgery where the breast bone needs to be surgically separated, minimally invasive valve surgery is performed through a small incision between the ribs.

Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center Receives ACR Reaccreditation

Dec 16, 2015

Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. (December 16, 2015) – Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center earns three-year terms of accreditation in mammography and breast ultrasound as the result of a recent review by the American College of Radiology (ACR).

The digital mammography program at Palm Beach Gardens uses low-dose technology to provide comprehensive breast services for screenings and diagnostic mammograms. In addition, the hospital’s ultrasound guided breast services are designed for precise localization during a biopsy or aspiration procedure.

The ACR gold seal of accreditation represents the highest level of image quality and patient safety. It is awarded only to facilities meeting ACR Practice Guidelines and Technical Standards after a peer-review evaluation by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field. Image quality, personnel qualifications, adequacy of facility equipment, quality control procedures and quality assurance programs are assessed. The findings are reported to the ACR Committee on Accreditation, which subsequently provides the practice with a comprehensive report they can use for continuous practice improvement.

“Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center is pleased to be recognized again by the American College of Radiology,” said Jeffrey M. Welch, hospital CEO. “These distinctions demonstrate our imaging department’s continued commitment to the community and ongoing promise to provide high quality patient care.”

The ACR is a national professional organization serving more than 36,000 diagnostic/interventional radiologists, radiation oncologists, nuclear medicine physicians and medical physicists with programs focusing on the practice of medical imaging, radiation oncology, and the delivery of comprehensive health care services.

Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center’s breast care services include digital mammography, breast ultrasound, breast MRI, stereotactic biopsy, ultrasound guided biopsy and more.
