Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center Appoints New Chief Nursing Officer

Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. (November 23, 2015) – Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center welcomes David O’Brien, MSN, MHA, RN as its new chief nursing officer. He has 12 years of experience working in healthcare, with more than seven in a leadership role.  

As CNO, O’Brien will oversee and coordinate the daily operations of Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center’s nursing departments. He is responsible for ensuring that high quality patient care is consistently maintained.

“David brings a unique mixture of nursing experience, work ethic and personal commitment that will significantly benefit patients and staff here at Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center,” said CEO Jeffrey M. Welch. “I look forward to the many contributions he will make to this dynamic organization."

O’Brien has held a variety of executive nursing positions throughout his career, most recently serving as CNO of sister hospital, Coral Gables Hospital. Some of his accomplishments during his tenure included leading several initiatives to improve clinical operations, patient satisfaction, patient outcomes, infection rates, hospital acquired conditions and employee engagement. He also developed and opened the Post-Surgical Step-Down Unit and actively engaged in community outreach opportunities to promote hospital growth.

O’Brien earned his Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Master of Science in Nursing and Master of Health Administration from the University of Phoenix in Arizona. He is a member of the American Organization of Nurse Executives, the American College of Healthcare Executives and the Emergency Nurses Association.
