Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center Names Teresa C. Urquhart to the Position of Chief Executive Officer

Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. (November 15, 2018) – With more than 30 years of healthcare experience, Teresa C. Urquhart returns to Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center to serve as the hospital’s chief executive officer. She will be responsible for overseeing all strategic, operational and clinical activities at the hospital.

With a strong focus on delivering quality care, she joins a team that recently announced that it achieved another “A” grade from the Leapfrog Group. The designation recognizes the hospital’s efforts in protecting patients from harm and meeting the highest safety standards in the United States. This is the third straight year Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center has received an “A” rating.

“On behalf of the Governing Board, I would like to welcome Teresa back to Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center,” said Governing Board Chairman, Baqir Syed, M.D. “She is a well-known leader in both the local and national healthcare arena, and she has a strong understanding of the operations of our hospital, which will be beneficial to the communities we serve.”

Previously, Urquhart was the chief operating officer at Delray Medical Center. During her tenure, she managed the daily operations and oversaw the development and implementation of long term facility plans, goals and objectives for the hospital.

Prior to her time at Delray Medical Center, Urquhart served as the chief operating officer at Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center, chief operating officer at North Fulton Hospital in Roswell, Georgia, and as chief executive officer at Coastal Carolina Hospital in Hardeeville, South Carolina.

Urquhart received her Bachelor of Science in Medical Records Administration at Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, North Carolina. She continued her education and earned her Master of Arts in Health Services Administration from Webster University in El Paso, Texas.

To get a better understanding of the use of statistical analysis, she also finished her Six Sigma Green Belt Certification at Gwinnett Technical College in Lawrenceville, Georgia. Additionally, Urquhart is a member of the Palm Beach County American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women Executive Committee, and has served as a member of the Atlanta Heart Walk Executive Leadership Committee.
