Primary Stroke Center
Every three to four minutes, someone dies from a stroke.
At Palm Beach Gardens, we are working to reduce the impact of stroke by providing the community with a Primary Stroke Center.
Our Stroke Center brings together medical professionals across a number of fields who specialize in stroke care, making them available to you around the clock. Our Stroke Center team works closely with local emergency medical services so that life-saving, timely care can begin before you even come through our doors.
Our Center is guided by the Brain Attack Coalition, a group of 15 national organizations including the American Academy of Neurology, the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the American College of Emergency Physicians, the American Society of Neuroradiology and the American Stroke Association. The Coalition developed joint recommendations for hospitals to create stroke care centers as a way to improve the quality of care we offer when someone is suffering from a stroke.
The goal of our stroke team is to promptly assess the situation and order any tests needed to make a firm diagnosis of stroke as fast as possible. The right diagnosis provided in a timely manner can save lives and possibly prevent long-term problems associated with stroke.
