You could say I was born with some disadvantages. I only have one kidney, and I have dealt with multiple health issues over my 65 years. However, every time I need medical attention, Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center is always my go to hospital. As a resident of Palm Beach Gardens for 50 years, I have seen this hospital grow into one of the very best in Palm Beach County.

Every year I am so grateful for the fact this hospital saved my life back in 2005. I remember the day so vividly. I was putting down a patio in the backyard of my house. I started to feel faint and stopped sweating. That’s when my wife knew something wasn’t right and immediately called 9-11. When I got to Gardens Medical Center, cardiothoracic surgeon, Dr. Richard Faro, checked me out and determined two issues. First, he discovered I was only born with a bicuspid valve, instead of a tricuspid valve near my heart. He also diagnosed me with an ascending aortic aneurysm. For this, Dr. Faro brought in his partner, Dr. Joseph Motta to help him with the procedure I needed. Together, they fixed my aortic aneurysm, and then I received an artificial valve to fix my bicuspid valve.

15 years later, I’m stronger and feel better than ever. I can’t thank the team at Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center enough for the kind, caring, and amazing treatment they provided and still provide to me each and every time I need them. They are my true heroes and the reason why I am alive today. To them, I say thank you.
