Target MRI Fusion Prostate Biopsy

Prostate health is at the forefront of urologic care at Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center. Detecting it usually entails a biopsy of the prostate when the surgeon suspects an issue.  Historically, finding the exact location of cancer in a prostate gland has been a challenge. Conventional TRUS prostate biopsy techniques are referred to as “blind” biopsies since physicians typically cannot easily view the specific location of any abnormal tissue. Targeted MRI/Ultrasound Fusion biopsies are one of the latest technologies available in the detection and management of prostate cancer. Now, using the Artemis 3D imaging and navigation system, our team is able to better identify and more accurately biopsy suspicious prostate cancer areas.

Da Vinci Xi Robotics Assisted System

In addition to the prostate, our surgeons also perform urologic procedures of the bladder, kidneys, adrenal glands or ureters, robotically with the Da Vinci Xi robot.  The Da Vinci Xi robot allows our robotically trained surgeons to perform complex urologic procedures using minimally invasive techniques. As a result, our patients receive the highest quality of care and surgical outcomes for any of their urologic needs.

Kidney stones are painful and can be a problem for those who suffer from them. At Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center, our program allows surgeons access to our innovative equipment including the holmium laser. This laser procedure helps remove tissue blocking urine flow through the prostate, and then is used to cut the prostate tissue into easily removable fragments.

Prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers in the male population. Detecting it usually entails a biopsy of the prostate when the surgeon suspects an issue. Targeted MRI/Ultrasound Fusion biopsies are one of the latest technologies available in the detection and management of prostate cancer. Prostate health is at the forefront of care at Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center. For men, prostate problems frequently occur in those over the age of 50. Fortunately, most problems are not cancer. Even if cancer is diagnosed, the relative five-year survival rate for all men is nearly 100%. The most common prostate problem diagnosed in men over 50 is prostate enlargement, or benign prostatic hyperplasia (BHP). This condition occurs because the prostate continues to grow as a man matures, potentially squeezing the urethra and affecting bladder control. At Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center, we have a dedicated operating suite for surgical intervention where prostatic enlargement procedures are performed.

Historically, finding the exact location of cancer in a prostate gland has been a challenge. Conventional TRUS prostate biopsy techniques are referred to as “blind” biopsies since physicians typically cannot easily view the specific location of any abnormal tissue. Now, using the Artemis 3D imaging and navigation system, our team is able to better identify and more accurately biopsy suspicious prostate cancer areas.

In addition to the prostate, our surgeons also can perform urologic procedures of the bladder, kidneys, adrenal glands or ureters, robotically with the Da Vinci Xi robot. The robot allows patients to have these complex surgeries done by our dedicated trained surgeons and staff, giving them the highest quality of care and surgical outcomes for any of their oncologic or reconstructive needs.

Our goal is to provide the very best urologic care for our community. Our team of doctors and medical staff is available for you and your loved ones when you need us most, providing this urological treatment and technology 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
