Pulmonary Rehab
If you are living with a chronic breathing problem, every breath you take can be a challenge, and something you never take for granted. Pulmonary Rehab aims to reduce symptoms, decrease disability, increase participation in physical and social activities,
and improve overall quality of life for patients with chronic respiratory disease.
Your rehab plan could include exercise training, nutritional counseling, energy-conserving techniques and breathing strategies. You will likely visit the Pulmonary Rehab Center 2-3 times per week, but we will expect you to follow your plan and perform
exercises at home, too.
In general, our program involves:
- 36 sessions completed within a 36 week period, are conducted by registered nurses, registered respiratory therapists and a supervising physician.
- An individualized evaluation and exercise program to regain strength and endurance.
- Close cardiac, oxygen saturation, blood pressure and heart rate monitoring.
- Patient education on pulmonary disease, general exercise principles, medications, breathing strategies, nutrition and life style modification.
The Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center Pulmonary Rehab program is accredited by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation. We are open Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 2:00pm to 4:30pm.
